- TN, USA

Melanie Polkosky is a social-cognitive psychologist and certified professional coach with a background in education and healthcare, who has worked in user research and design professional and leadership roles in a wide variety of organizations, from startups to large Fortune 100 companies. In her coaching practice, Melanie specializes in working with women in under-represented STEM and other environments, those in transitioning to new industries (or forging a unique career path) and emerging leaders. In all these situations, the effects of trauma imprint can impact how professionals engage at work, often showing up as imposter syndrome, conflict, or a sense of marginalization. Coaching may focus on developing tools to support emotional regulation, self-confidence, strengths and values-based visioning and creating safe spaces to process the impacts of daily micro-aggressions. She lives with her husband, two children and one very friendly Labradoodle near Memphis, Tennessee. In her spare time, she loves to write, read, travel and relax near a lake. To learn more about Melanie and her work, please consider reading her 2015 book Uncovering Truffles: The Scarcity and Value of Women in STEM or her 2020 article on imposter syndrome.
