Ever since I was a grieving, traumatized kid seeking solace and wisdom in books and movies, I have been fundamentally interested in people: how we feel and think, how we are formed and malformed, how we find health in a toxic world. Born into a family of educators, I am also fundamentally driven to teach people. I majored in English for a B.A. and an M.A. so I could study and teach people via literature; then majored in rhetoric for a Ph.D. so I could study and teach people via communication in all media. After almost 20 years in higher education, I shifted industries to mental healthcare so I could study and teach people via trauma-informed care. Now I'm studying trauma-informed coaching so I can help people teach themselves to attune to their souls instead of their traumas.
